Humanist Legal Society Forms, Schedules Inaugural Event

The Humanist Legal Society, a newly formed organization with a mission of uniting lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals wishing to advance humanism in American law and society will hold its first event on July 19, 2018, at 2 p.m., at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Based in Washington, the Humanist Legal Society plans to establish local groups in major cities and law schools across the country. Its mission statement explains that the organization supports the protection of civil liberties, strict separation of religion and government, legislation and public policies informed by sound scientific evidence, ethics in government and law enforcement, and respect for the diversity of individuals.
