The mission of the Humanist Legal Society is to promote and protect humanist values in the legal system by providing support and networking opportunities to lawyers, judges, legal academics, law students and paralegals throughout the United States and by fostering development of humanism in the law. As humanists, we value the protection of civil liberties, strict separation of religion and government, legislation and public policies informed by sound scientific evidence, ethics in government and law enforcement, and respect for the diversity of individuals.
