The Humanist Legal Society presents, Supreme Court Roundup on Religion and Equality Cases, a panel discussion featuring University of Miami School of Law Professor and Constitutional Law Expert Caroline Mala Corbin, Humanist Legal Society Board President and constitutional litigator David Codell, and the American Humanist Association’s (AHA) Legal Director and Senior Counsel Monica Miller. The panel will be moderated by the Humanist Legal Society Coordinator and AHA paralegal Izzy Oldfield.
The panelists will address the U.S. Supreme Court’s notable church-state separation decisions and civil rights decisions this term. Specifically, opinions handed down on LGBTQ equality in the workplace, state funding of religious schools, the scope of the ministerial exception to employment discrimination laws, and religious and moral objections to the ACA contraception mandate. Following the panel discussion (1 hour) and Q & A (30 minutes), attendees are invited to stay on for a virtual happy hour.
Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance of the event. Please send an email to email@example.com.
